Open Arms Hispanic Ministry has been meeting the physical and spiritual needs of immigrants in Wayne County and surrounding areas for over a decade. Open Arms started when a group of folks, including Raul Tadeo who is still on staff with Open Arms, noticed the growing number of Hispanic immigrants in the Wayne County area and felt called to minister to them.
Today, Open Arms employs Raul and Haroldo Nunes to do the work of welcoming the immigrants to our community. Open Arms staff provide transportation and translation for work, doctor’s appointment, court hearings, dentist appointments and more. Another significant focus of energy is aiding individuals to locate housing and work. Open Arms representatives have also partnered with local employers to develop better workplace environments for immigrants. Raul and Haroldo view their over-arching goal throughout all these services as communicating the love of Christ to people from all walks of life. This has lead to thriving Hispanic community that worships at Salem Mennonite Church in Orrville, the home church of both Raul and Haroldo.
